Three Nigerian women have taken it upon themselves to put the country on the winter Olympics map by becoming its first representatives at the competition.
Seun Adigun, Ngozi Onwumere and Akuoma Omeoga will represent Nigeria at the 2018 competition – in Bobsled.

In a year that saw Nigerian Paralympians bring joy to a lot of Nigerians and see its first representative at rowing, the news of these women will serve as further inspirations.
Very few African countries compete in the Winter Olympics but these women based in the United States are determined to add Nigeria to that exclusive list of African countries – which include Ghana, Kenya and Zimbabwe.
One of the athletes Seun Adigun, says her participation is her ‘gift to Nigeria’: “The success of this bobsled team will positively affect millions of people all over the world and will represent monumental international advancements in social, athletic, and economic statuses.
"Together, we can demonstrate that nothing is impossible with a little faith, support and willingness to persevere.”
The three athletes have started a GoFundMe campaign to raise $150,000 (around ₦70 million) and create an awareness around the historical feat they are set to accomplish.
