I am not sure how or why Americans got the idea the a flat screen

I am not sure how or why Americans got the idea the a flat screen TV should be installed over a fireplace. We often receive requests for quotes on installation of a 60" TV above a fireplace. I disregard each and every one of these requests. This is such a bad idea for so many reasons.
